Hiiiiiiiiii 👋🏽

Hi y’all!
I am La Otra Flora. I love to grow beautiful things in the garden. I also love teaching others. I’m here to help ya.

A little secret, all the flowers that are currently growing in my garden I started back in the fall. Central Texas has mild winters, so I’m able to get a head start. If ya want to grow poppies then ya gotta sow them carefully on the ugliest, rainiest grey day in November.

I’ve already planned out my late spring, summer, and autumn garden. There is still time to prepare your soil and buy your seeds in time! But don’t delay, the warm season will be here before you know it.

mid winter

To be honest this winter has been a little strange. It’s been very mild for the most part, warm even. A few freezing nights here and there, then a heavy snow came and it’s been freezing temps the past two nights. My winter garden has been resilient throughout the season. But my anemone haven’t produced as much compared to the last couple of years. I’ve only had a couple of amazing blooms. I think I just have to be patient. I am most excited about my ranunculus, which just yesterday I noticed a few tiny blooms starting to come out. Yay!
