Zinnias are one of the easiest showy flowers to grow in a Texas summer garden. There are so many beautiful varieties its hard to choose which ones to grow every year. They last so long in a vase with fresh water daily. This year my new variety was the polar white and giant carmine.
I was blown away with her beauty and uniqueness all season. I would excitedly run out every morning to see who bloomed and take tons of pictures. These are just a few that stood out to me.
I have a mature Monstera deliciosa plant that lives under my pecan tree in the spring/summer. Last fall, I noticed it had a couple of baby leaves at the very bottom so I decided to take a cutting, making sure I got enough of the stem with nodes. I put the cutting in water on a windowsill and eventually it grew a few long aerial roots. When they were long enough, I took it out and potted it in a small 6 inch container with soft seed starter mix. I kept it consistently moist for a few months in my greenhouse. After growing lots of new solid leaves, it finally put out a leaf with fenestrations. Plants are amazing!
They’re about 7-8ft tall now. All the rain we had in May really helped and I just got my first bloom to open.
